birdSEED Advisory Board
Alicia Sokol is the owner of barre3 14th Street, a fitness studio focused on inclusive, body-positive healing through joyful movement. Also an instructor of the barre3 class, Alicia realized the power in being entrusted with an hour of a person’s day, and in helping people feel a sense of connection and belonging. Alicia’s studio is a place where every person, regardless of fitness level, is immediately welcomed and embraced. She has worked hard to ensure her staff help people feel seen, heard and cared for. Most importantly, the barre3 workout celebrates the body as it is TODAY and encourages joy in movement for the sake of feeling good in the skin you’re in. Alicia is delighted to lead a team of 30 staff in the vibrant and diverse 14th Street neighborhood on DC’s northwest side. Prior to opening her studio, Alicia worked in public health communications and wrote a cooking blog, Weekly Greens, to inspire busy people to cook meals at home using fresh ingredients. Early in her career, Alicia worked in finance as an equity analyst and as consultant in financial communications. Alicia holds a bachelor of science in finance from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and a master’s degree in public health from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two sons.Â
