In preparation for battle with the $1.7 trillion national student debt crisis, I spent 17 years in the financial services industry utilizing her SEC license to manage mortgages, structured settlements, and annuities for both specialty finance companies and the world’s largest international banking and financial services organization— HSBC.

Stacie is also a U.S. Army veteran. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Longwood University. Stacie joined Freddie Mac May 2021 as a Senior Manager to close the homeownership gap for Black and Brown Americans.

Stacie joined the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) in 2018 as the NextGen Innovation Team Leader, and she immediately set to work creating a hub for federal employees to incubate solutions that address the nation’s growing student loan figure. Stacie has completed a Fintech Certification to Transform Financial Services from Wharton University and a Masters in Financial Planning .

Channeling her drive to further explore partnerships between the private and public sectors to achieve scaled outcomes more efficiently, Stacie earned a certificate in Social Impact Partnership Design from Georgetown University.

Our housing justice program offers down payment grants to qualifying BIPOC first time home buying residents in the DC and Philadelphia areas. Awards range from $5,000 to $15,000 and grants are made multiple times per year until funds are expended.

The application/review process is straight forward and uncomplicated.

Our Board of Advisors reviews applications, interviews finalists and identifies grantees. This is a partnership with the Greater Washington Community Foundation who supports the administrative complexity so we can very simply help people buy homes. *

Applicants must identify as one of the following: American Indian, Indigenous, Alaska Native, Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, African American, Hispanic or Latinix birdSEED has made 29 provisional grants to date. The total grant pool available was $215,000. Additional funds have been raised from supportive community members who shared our vision of simple, no strings financial down payment grants that accelerate the home buying process.
