Grace Langham
President, Flock DC

I’ve called Nest and the Flock family of companies my work home for nearly a decade. I got my start professionally after a Teach for America position led me to the classroom in Washington, DC where I taught 1st and 2nd grade for many years. The classroom, believe it or not, was a window into the world of sophisticated property management. Every day was different, chaos was never far, problems were abundant, resources limited, and there were high expectations for teachers to be responsive if not transformational. Every single day I walked through the doors, I knew I could make a difference. At Flock, the same is true. I’m called upon to stand at the front of the room, streamline our operational systems, lead dynamic teams and ensure we deliver the best in class services to every resident, every property, every client and every team member every single day. I believe that business can be an incredible agent of change and, as a purpose driven Flock, we’re able to transform an industry that hasn’t always contributed to the world we want to be part of. I’m thrilled to lead a team that is redefining such an important field and contributing to a stronger, more inclusive and equitable community.

I still find my way back to the world of education as an enthusiastic board member for FLOC (For the Love Of Children). This stellar community resource provides educational support and services beyond the classroom to help District students succeed from second grade through college and career.

About

Flock DC is a real estate management company serving the District proper.

We knew from the start that to take flight, we all need fuel. This core value is at the heart of Flock’s birdSEED philanthropic giving initiative.

Good citizenship and bold contributions to community are part of our wingprint. Our giving began 12 years ago with our time. Indeed, it was all we had to spare. We helped build playgrounds, plant gardens, serve meals and sort clothing. We have (and still) wander the streets with trash bags and lend our spaces to those who have needed to gather, plot and plan for a better world.

These are the seeds we’re planting today as part of a reparative move toward a more just future.

We hope you join us. We have a lot of work to do.
